Six Oswego students and a staff member were recently inducted into the SUNY Oswego chapter of Delta Phi Alpha, the National German Honor Society.
Sidney Bradshaw, Sarah Krueger, Abigail Norris, Michael Gill, Matthew Chinnici and Christopher Dame were honored for their outstanding academic achievement in German as well as for their participation in cultural events focusing on the German-speaking countries. Student Academic Success Business Advisor Julia Lamb was similarly recognized for her strong support of Oswego’s German language programs.
Bradshaw is a political science major and German minor from Fulton. He recently completed a semester abroad through Oswego’s partner university in Osnabrück, Germany.
Krueger is a senior from Newburgh with a double major in German and marketing. She also studied abroad last semester at Oswego’s partner university in Kempten, Germany.
Norris, from the Albany area, intends to be a German teacher and is therefore a double major in adolescent education and German. She plans to study abroad during the spring 2025 semester.
Chinnici, from Webster, is majoring in biology with minors in German and chemistry. He will study in Kempten this summer through Oswego’s summer program.
Gill, a cinema and screen studies major with minors in German and Photography, is from Liverpool. He will also study in Kempten this summer through Oswego’s summer program in Germany.
Dame -- from Manlius with a major in music and a German minor -- also will study in Kempten this summer through Oswego’s summer program.
An Oswego alumna and a former student of German, Lamb continues to participate in German-related activities. In her role at the School of Business, she works with students to design their path of study and helps guide them to achieve their academic and professional goals.
Faculty members Patrick Schultz and Ana Djukic-Cocks of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures welcomed the new members and thanked them for their dedication to German and its attendant cultures.
