SUNY Oswego is expanding access to higher education with a new $1.7 million investment in scholarships, with a focus on supporting students from Central New York while also creating opportunities for students across New York state and beyond.

The scholarships will help reduce financial barriers for first-year students and make it more affordable to earn a college degree close to home.

The investment comes as Central New York experiences significant growth and new industry development. SUNY Oswego is committed to preparing local students to take part in that future while also attracting students who will contribute to the region’s workforce.

“This investment reflects who we are and what we believe,” said Rick Buck, interim vice president for enrollment management at SUNY Oswego. “These new scholarships ensure that students across Central New York and beyond have a clear and affordable path to a SUNY Oswego degree.”

The initiative builds on SUNY Oswego’s ongoing focus on affordability and student success, helping students stay, succeed and build their futures in the region.
