SUNY Oswego’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) will go Totally Teal with an annual event and walk starting at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 27, in support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
Participants will begin in front of Culkin Hall and progress around Glimmerglass Lagoon. This walk of support and remembrance is in honor of 30-year SUNY Oswego employee Mary Gosek, who started the event, and others affected by the disease.
Related fundraisers will support Peaceful Remedies, a local organization founded by Gosek to holistically improve the healing experiences of those with life-altering illness.
Anybody on campus can contribute through showing up and showing off in teal. Participants can donate $5 via the secure CashNet storefront in the spirit of wearing teal and jeans that day. Additional activities with prizes that day will join the above fundraising.
Teal-related items of apparel will be available for purchase, including a teal or a white unisex T-shirt for $15 ($18 for sizes 3XL - 5XL) and a women's long sleeve shirt for $35 ($40 for sizes 2XL - 4XL). All apparel will have a “Believe, Totally Teal Tuesday” logo on the left side of the chest. You can order apparel via Google Form, then receive a secure CashNet link to make payment.
While the deadline to order merchandise in time for the Sept. 27 event has passed, orders for future delivery are still open through Oct. 1.
In addition, every Tuesday during September, SUNY Oswego will continue the campaign to bring awareness to ovarian cancer symptoms and the disease via wearing teal on Tuesdays.
