The campaign launch of 2014 as well as the college’s 2014 annual report have earned recognition in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education 2015 Accolades Awards District II program, as announced last month.

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations received the bronze award in the special events-individual event category for the launch of the public phase of the college’s “With Passion and Purpose” fundraising campaign on Oct. 16, 2014.

Campaign manager Melissa Manwaring headed up the mammoth project that brought Al Roker and the “Today” show as well as ESPN’s Steve Levy to campus, coordinated with a special edition of the O’Donnell Media Summit that honored media icon Charlie Rose, and celebrated the academic pursuits of a diverse range of faculty and students.

The judges said, “SUNY Oswego did a good job of using their prominent alumni and to help them successfully launch their campaign. They were able to reach a wide audience of students, faculty and staff. They strategically used their resources to engage these individuals through the day in number of events. They did a great job of using social media to enhance their event and get their message out.”

Gold Award

The college’s 2014 annual report, “We Dwell in Possibility,” captured the Gold Award in its category of digital annual or institutional reports. The Office of Communications and Marketing produced the report.

Judges of this category particularly noted the report’s “beautiful photography,” “impressive strategy (that) met its goals,” “inclusive theme” and “easy to navigate . . . format that allowed readers to find information.”

The recognitions come in a district with 700 institutions among seven states, two U.S. territories and Canada — the largest in CASE.
