Nerissa Conklin, a May 2023 anthropology graduate at SUNY Oswego, created an exhibit currently on display at the Richardson-Bates House Museum about the university’s archaeological field school during summer 2022.

Forming friendships can help mitigate the effects of trauma early in life, according to new research released by a team led by SUNY Oswego biological sciences faculty member Liz Lange. While the study involved baboons, researchers see tangible connections to humans.

Through thank-you emails to her students’ favorite English teachers, Distinguished Service Professor Leigh Wilson turned a kind gesture into a yearly writing contest intertwining the stories of high school and SUNY Oswego students, leaving a lasting mark on those involved.

Matthew H. McLeskey, an assistant professor of criminal justice, was selected for a two-week summer project funded by National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), focusing on the importance of regional storytelling in fostering a sense of place.

Damien Nguyen, a senior double majoring in human development and criminal justice, recently earned the statewide Norman R. McConney, Jr. Award for outstanding student excellence. This award recognizes Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students who overcome obstacles to go above and beyond in their academic endeavors.

Four SUNY Oswego students have earned the 2023 SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence, the highest such recognition in the state system. These awards recognize outstanding accomplishments inside and outside the classroom for childhood education-English major Kaitlin Flint, zoology major Brooke Goodman, meteorology major Kaitlyn Jesmonth and psychology major Adriana Militello.

Senior zoology major Danielle Marichal will survey the damage done by an invasive species, and track another species introduced to contain them, thanks to a campus grant.

Four Oswego students had an excellent showing in their first-ever appearance at the SUNY Model European Union gathering recently, winning an award for Outstanding Agenda Item with sophomore journalism major Aidan Trusz honored as Most Effective Finance Minister.

A spoken word performance featuring the poems and short stories of Indigenous/Chicana artist and 2022 SUNY Oswego graduate Chelsea Maldonado called “Redress to the Red Dresses” will raise awareness of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (#MMIW) cause. The free event will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28, in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre.
