SUNY Oswego senior public relations major Skye Prosper, featured speaker at the Love-A-Donor appreciation breakfast that recognizes faculty and staff members who have made gifts to the college in the past year, offers thanks for the many opportunities and experiences she has had while attending SUNY Oswego.

Enthusiastic students declare Feb. 14 a banner day for donors to SUNY Oswego. On Love-A-Donor Day, volunteers let people know how gifts support students -- through scholarships, activities and programs that directly enhance the quality of their educational experience. Students also wrote personal messages of thanks.

Playwright Neil Simon’s “The Good Doctor,” based on classic stories by Anton Chekhov, will take the Waterman Theatre stage March 5 to 10. The series of 10 short plays with music will transport audiences to 19th-century Russia for an up-close view at absurd, surprising tales as this year's Blackfriars Student Honors production. The cast features Tim Brenner (seated) and, standing from left to right, Adam Sommer, Megan Campbell, Shana Weiss and Evan Ribaudo. Each actor plays a variety of characters. Frank Palumbo, class of 1983 and now vice president of account management at Nielsen Media Research, speaks Feb. 6 with the “Broadcast Newswriting” class of Michael Riecke of the communication studies faculty in 202 Marano Campus Center. Palumbo, who majored in broadcasting and mass communication at SUNY Oswego, appeared on behalf of the Alumni-In-Residence Program.

The men's basketball team won the regular-season crown and clinched the top spot heading into the SUNY Athletic Conference playoffs with a pair of conference road wins over the weekend, defeating Brockport, 85-69, and Geneseo, 69-63. The No. 1 seed Lakers, who finished the regular season at 20-5 (15-3 in the conference) are set to host the SUNYAC final four this weekend, playing at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a semifinal matchup against either fourth-seeded Cortland or No. 5 Oneonta. The title game takes place at 4 p.m. Saturday at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Laker Hall.

The nationally-ranked men's ice hockey team locked up a first-round bye and second seed in the SUNYAC Championships, splitting a pair of conference games over the weekend. On Sunday, the Lakers traveled to Plattsburgh, allowing the Cardinals only two early goals, but sustaining a 2-1 loss. The Lakers return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday at Marano Campus Center arena, with their SUNYAC semifinals opponent determined by Wednesday night’s games -- either third-seeded Plattsburgh, fourth-seeded Buffalo State or fifth-seeded Fredonia.

The women's hockey team and family members celebrate Senior Day on Feb. 15 on the Marano Campus Center ice. The Lakers defeated Potsdam, 4-1, in the last home game for graduating seniors Mikaela Ditonto and Victoria Rankin, honored in a post-game ceremony. The fourth-seeded women travel to Plattsburgh for a 3 p.m. Saturday faceoff with the nationally ranked and top-seeded Cardinals in the semifinals of the Northeast Women’s Hockey League Tournament.
