SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. visited SUNY Oswego Feb. 14 to meet with President Peter O. Nwosu and students, employees and several offices, concluding the visit with a press conference held in The Space announcing enhanced mental health support funding to Oswego and other SUNY institutions.

After SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. hosted a press conference on enhanced mental health support funding to Oswego and other SUNY institutions, he and President Peter O. Nwosu gathered for a group photo with students in The Space.

During SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr.’s visit to SUNY Oswego Feb. 14, he talked with staff and students at "Penfield Loves You Day," annually held on St. Valentine's Day.

The Spring Student Involvement Fair held Jan, 31 in Swetman Gym showcased over 100 student clubs and organizations. President Peter O. Nwosu met with the clubs that were present and personally welcomed the students back to campus and the beginning of the spring semester during the well-attended event. Oswego's Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration week included a new event on Feb. 2 held in the Shineman Center Nucleus. This celebration featured special guest Emmy-nominated poet Jillian Hanesworth reading poetry and an art exhibit. The event also featured student poetry readings and performances. The second annual Martin Luther King, Jr. MLK Day of Service in partnership with Rise Against Hunger was held Feb. 3 in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court. Members of the Oswego State Women's field hockey team (pictured) are some of the approximately 200 campus community volunteers who prepared meals that will help families in need. Rise Against Hunger is a nonprofit that focuses on ending world hunger. SUNY Oswego volunteers were able to pack 20,080 meals in collaboration with Rise Against Hunger and ARTSwego to go towards ending world hunger. Several of these meals will be delivered to a local food bank and with a world partner of Rise Against Hunger.

Around 200 campus community volunteers prepared 20,080 meals to support the organization. A look inside a busy control room as WTOP-10 aired its first-ever all-women-run sports broadcast Feb. 2 in coverage of the Lakers men's hockey game against Brockport. Both the production team and on-air talent were made up entirely of women.

A first-ever mini career fair specifically for students in the School of Communication, Media and the Arts was held Feb. 21 in Tyler Hall. The fair gave students in these majors an opportunity to directly network and mingle with employers and organizations in the related fields they hope to enter after graduation. Orientation for the new incoming international students was held Jan. 18 in the Shineman Center, hosted by International Student and Scholar Services. During the orientation, approximately 50 new students learned their immigration responsibilities and rights as student/exchange visa holders and became familiarized with many campus resources to help guide them toward a successful university life.

Enterprise Mobility presented their generous annual donation to SUNY Oswego Office of Career Services, with SUNY Oswego faculty and staff thanking them for their support. In its 61st year, the Juried Student Art Exhibition annually features works of art created by SUNY Oswego students, open to all students. Business students took advantage of practice interviewing skill sessions at the Mock Interview Palooza, an event hosted by the School of Business, Career Services and the Alumni Engagement Office Feb. 12 and 13 in Rich Hall. Actors From The London Stage were in Oswego for their Feb. 15 performance of the classic Shakespeare comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” a scheduled ARTSwego programming event in Waterman Theatre. While here that week the five-actor touring company visited several classes across campus. Interested students were invited to visit the Spring Study Abroad Fair Feb. 14 to explore faculty-led (one to three weeks) summer, semester, academic year and internship programs. Study Abroad has opportunities for all majors, all over the world.
