National speaker and consultant Josie Ahlquist discusses digital identity in social media with Laker student-athletes on Feb. 16 in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. Oswego's Career Services Office invited Ahlquist to Oswego for presentations and meetings with students on maintaining and cultivating a positive presence in digital media. A blogger and in-demand speaker, Ahlquist serves on the American College Personnel Association's President's Task Force on Digital Technology, co-chairing the research and scholarship team.

Elias Williams appeared Feb. 18 in an artist's talk in Lanigan Hall, an event hosted by the college's art department in conjunction with Black History Month. Williams is a documentary and portrait photographer whose work focuses on everyday life and adding value to communities and cultures within people of color.
Jonathan McDonald, a 2012 education graduate and former Student Association president, speaks to Joseph Schwab's "Methods in Human Development II" class in Mahar Hall on Feb. 12. Speaking as part of the college's Alumni in Residence program, McDonald is now outreach and intern coordinator for Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center in the Adirondacks.
Christopher Hebblethwaite of Penfield Library programs a 3-D printer with a laptop computer while students and library staff look at objects produced by the printer on the annual Penfield Loves You day. The pre-Valentine's Day event on Feb. 12 also featured treats, crafts and other hands-on technology.
Despite falling to No. 2 Elmira in its last two games of the regular season, the Oswego State women's hockey team secured the No. 5 seed in the ECAC West tournament. Goaltender Tori Travato (pictured) was among the four seniors honored after Saturday's tight 3-1 loss. The team, which finished with an overall record of 11-10-4 (6-9-3 in conference), will head to fourth-seeded Buffalo State at 3 p.m. Saturday to open the tournament.
The Laker track and field team had its final tune-up in Brockport this weekend before they return to the Golden Eagles' home facility for the SUNYAC Championships on Friday and Saturday. Freshman Joshua Willson (pictured) vaulted 4.05 meters to set a new Oswego State record. Abigail Boyce also set a new mark, breaking her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.60.
The Laker men's basketball team defeated Geneseo 75-67 on Feb. 16 as the team celebrated its four seniors for Senior Day (including Kyle Covley, pictured). The squad completed its season with a 18-7 record overall and 11-7 in the conference, earning the fourth seed in the SUNYAC tournament. The team hosted fifth-seeded Geneseo again on Tuesday in Max Ziel Gymnasium to start playoff action.
Oswego State men's hockey defeated Fredonia 7-2 on the road Saturday as seven different Lakers scored. The game marked the conclusion to the regular season with Oswego posting a 13-10-2 overall record (8-7-1 SUNYAC). Oswego has earned the fourth seed in the SUNYAC Championship and will host Brockport at 7 p.m. tonight at the Marano Campus Center arena for the first round of tournament action – likely the final home date for seniors like Brandon Adams (pictured).
