Students from the Oswego Ski and Snowboard Club like Jonathan Goodman found a number of ways to showcase their abilities and creativity during the Feb. 28 Rail Jam.

Five faculty and staff from the First-Year Experience Advisory Council (FYEAC) attended the First Year Experience National Conference from Feb. 21 to 23 in Washington, D.C. The FYEAC is a cross-functional team that provides advisement and strategic direction for SUNY Oswego's first-year experience programs and initiatives. Todd Pagano was the guest speaker for the Feb. 19 Science Today lecture in the Shineman Center. Pagano, a 1996 alumnus and associate dean at the Rochester Institute of Technology, talked about his research and methods in "Addressing the Global Challenge of Access to Clean Water using Spectroscopy and Chemometrics."

The Oswego men’s hockey team recognized its seniors after a 4-1 win over Fredonia on Feb. 22. This year’s seniors include Anthony Passero, Charlie Pelnik, Tyler Currie, Derek Brown, Mitch Emerson, Josh Zizek, Jody Sullivan, Joey Scorpio, Michael Gillespie, Joseph Molinaro, Chris MacMillan, Cedric Hansen and David Richer. David Pearlman, a 1992 graduate and the U.S. director of education at Microsoft, speaks to a class in "Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) In Learning Environments" in the Shineman Center, as part of the Alumni in Residence series. Pearlman is a frequent visitor to campus as part of the Alumni-In-Residence program and also met for lunch with a group of students for Pizza with Professionals hosted by Career Services.

An award-winning digital illustrator, freelance designer and art director based in Oswego, 2015 graduate David Owens brought his knowledge and advice to his alma mater as a visiting artist on Feb. 26. He currently splits his professional time between his illustration clients and art directing campaigns for Oswego County’s tourism efforts.

"It's On Us" Nationwide Pledge Day will be held on campus in April where members of the campus community can take the pledge to stand up to sexual violence and get a shirt. Nearly a half million people on over 500 college campuses have taken the It’s On Us Pledge standing against sexual assault. Taking pledges and providing awareness buttons Feb. 25 in Marano Campus Center are volunteers for the local related It’s On Oz effort, from left Alaces Jewel Sarmiento, a junior communications and social interaction and music dual major; Emanuel Thomas, a senior wellness management major; Maggie Bulmer, a junior public relations major; Tehara Pemberton, a senior public relations and sociology dual major; and Luis Garcia, a senior communications major.
