Tamar Greene, a 2009 SUNY Oswego graduate who plays George Washington in "Hamilton" on Broadway, performed Nov. 28 to a Waterman Theatre audience for a delightful evening of eclectic sounds, rhythms and tones of opera, reggae, standards, R&B and hip hop musical fusion. The event was presented by Artswego in collaboration with the Ke-nekt’ Chamber Music Series.

The 18th annual Dr. Lewis B. O'Donnell Media Summit held Oct. 26 in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre was themed "Reaching for the Summit: Underrepresentation in Sports Media." Discussing their experiences are alumni professionals Allif Karim '18 (furthest left) a producer/editor for WJZ-13 in Baltimore who served as moderator, with panelists, from left: Morgan Rumpf ‘17, chief marketing officer for C-Suite Executive Solutions; Ade Ellis '04, an Emmy Award-winning associate director and associate producer for CBS Sports; Donna Goldsmith '82, a marketing and operational consultant with ample sports and entertainment marketing experience; and Yaw Ofori-Atta '05, a producer for CBS Sports and freelance content contributor.

Students attending the Media Summit had the opportunity to talk with alumni professionals during the Career Connectors event held in Tyler Art Gallery after the panel discussion. SUNY Oswego’s Launch It student entrepreneur competition, hosted by the School of Business, provides students with a platform featuring resources, mentorship and financial rewards to develop and launch innovative ideas in business and social sectors. Winning students in this year's event, pictured following the final competition Nov. 4 in the Marano Campus Center auditorium, are from left: Naomi McMullen, a finalist for "Embrace Me," a home for women; Max Gobin and Maurice Williams, winners of the Fan Favorite $250 category for "Sheldon Taco" late night taco service; David Sterling, first place $2,500 and STEM bonus award $500 for "Pet Way" facial recognition for pet doors; Scott Newman and Eli Holicky, third place $1,000 for "Grip Lock" hand sensor technology for guns; Harshit Gupta and Paul Wehr, second place: $1,500 for "Game On" game controllers for the physically challenged; and on screen is Amanda Schreiber, an online business administration major, winner of the School of Business Online Student Bonus Total Award $500 for "Spectrum Awareness" training materials and organization for autism awareness.

Technology education alumni presenter Leif Sorgule (pictured at left) explains the new technologies in "package delivery by drone" through hands-on demonstrations outside Park Hall during the 83rd annual Fall Technology Conference Oct. 28. He also explained how students can use applied math skills to construct containers and parachutes to be deployed safely by drone.

Oswego fans celebrate Nov. 4 during the Lakers men's hockey contest with the archrival Plattsburgh Cardinals during Whiteout Weekend. The Lakers skated away with a 5-1 win.

Ryan Dickinson (foreground #74), a junior defenseman, skates past the net after making the Lakers' fourth goal in third-period action, accompanied by cheers from freshman forward Matt McQuade (#21, pictured), who scored Oswego's first goal in the game, along with the packed audience in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall. Oswego bested the Plattsburgh Cardinals Nov. 4 with a final score of 5-1, then defeated Potsdam the following evening for a sweep in the annual Whiteout Weekend contests.

Samantha Karlsson, a senior meteorology major, sits at the array of meteorological instrumentation in the Doppler on Wheels (DOW) displayed during SUNY Oswego meteorology open house Nov. 5 outside the Shineman Center. The DOW will be used in the Lake-Effect Electrification (LEE) project funded by the National Science Foundation to study the impact of lake-effect lightning on wind turbine farms near Lake Ontario. The project will also provide valuable hands-on opportunities for Karlsson and 21 other SUNY Oswego students. Meteorology professor Scott Steiger and assistant professor Yonggang Wang (not pictured) were on hand at the open house to demonstrate the various equipment.

Students from Syracuse visited campus on Oct. 27 and enjoyed a lunch hosted by the James A. Triandiflou '88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice.

The annual SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) bake sales on Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 offered opportunities to become known as a SUNY Oswego champion baker while proceeds benefited the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

The 7th annual Oswego Town Rural Cemetery: Ghost and History Storytelling Tour drew a capacity crowd as Oswego's storytelling class, under the direction of theatre professor Jonel Langenfeld, presented tales of local historical figures. Students such as senior theatre major Claire Bosley, portraying Dr. Mary Walker –- a surgeon, abolitionist, reformer and the only woman to win the U.S. Medal of Honor –- brought stories of individuals, the community and the country to life during the free event on Oct. 29.
