Students, alumni, faculty and staff showed their Oswego spirit by proudly showing Oswego's college colors in the official Green and Gold campus photo Sept. 30. The annual event is held in conjunction with Founder's Weekend.

The college’s first two Admissions Open Houses – on Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 (pictured, with students, staff and visiting students and families posting for a group photo) – provided an information fair, tours, breakout sessions and more inviting prospective students and families to consider joining the Oswego family. Families tour the campus on a crisp fall day during SUNY Oswego’s Oct. 10 Admissions Open House.

The Laker men’s hockey team shows off their Oswego pride during the Green and Gold photoshoot on Sept. 30. After sweeping two exhibition games, the team will open their regular season at home with the annual Teal Game at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, vs. Elmira College in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.

Those with leading roles in student organizations and involvement on campus attended the Department of Student Engagement and Leadership’s Fall Leadership Conference on Oct. 1. The session supported and provided personal development opportunities to advanced, emerging and new student leaders.

Jeff ’92 and Ginger Bray Sorensen ’93, pictured at the annual scholars brunch Oct. 1 with Aziz Sarimsakov ’24 –- one of the many talented scholarship recipients –- served as challengers for the successful "1861 Giving Challenge" during the second annual Founder’s Weekend celebration to raise scholarship funds for Oswego students. The challenge inspired 931 people to make a gift during 1,861 minutes on Sept. 28-29, exceeding the goal of 861 donors. Because the Laker community surpassed the goal, the Sorensens donated $100,000 to the college. Together, the Oswego community raised more than $212,000 to support students.

The Fall 2022 Career and Internship Fair held Oct. 12 in Swetman Gym saw very high attendance by students to meet with local, regional and national business employers and talk about career possibilities and current opportunities. These flags represent the international and indigenous connections of the SUNY Oswego community, with each flag representing an enrolled SUNY Oswego student. The James A. Triandiflou ‘88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice hosted a discussion Oct. 20 in Marano Campus Center to explore some of the life experiences of SUNY Oswego community members of Latin or Hispanic descent. In the event, connected to Hispanic/Latin Heritage Month, panelists shared personal experiences related to the terminology of ethnic identity, such as “Latino,” “Latina” and “LatinX.” Leading the discussion are institute staff members Marquel Jeffries (far left), assistant coordinator, and Terrian Garvis, assistant director, with panelists Edito Ramos Palacios (seated), a student leader, with online presenters and alumnae Yadi Aranda Burgos, an admissions assistant; and Tiphanie Gonzalez, assistant professor in counseling and psychological services and mental health counselor.
