This CTE certificate program is appropriate for teachers who are currently teaching in a school district or BOCES that has a partnership with SUNY Oswego.
Overview
This clinically rich CTE certificate program includes six required courses to offer key knowledge, skills and dispositions for teaching technical skills. Working with a school-based mentor teacher while undertaking program coursework, CTE candidates will learn about planning, teaching and assessment strategies; adolescent development and learning processes; the nature of students with disabilities and/or special health care needs; pedagogical uses of technology; literacy development; and the relationship between schools and their communities.
In addition, this program positions candidates to apply for Professional CTE Certification. Upon completing the program, accumulating three years of full-time classroom teaching experience, and passing the New York State Teacher Certification Exam, Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST), candidates can apply to the New York State Education Department for Professional CTE Certification.
