Coordinator of Work-based Learning

The Coordinator of Work-based Learning program is in the Career and Technical Educator Preparation Department (CTE), which is one of six departments in the School of Education

Overview

This program comprises two courses that focus on developing competence essential in planning and organizing a work-based learning program for teachers seeking certification as coordinators of work-based learning programs.  Study and practice in compiling and preparing occupational analyses, training outlines, community (business-industry) surveys, and plans for instructional facilities are included. The two CTE courses in this program are offered concurrently at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Note: This program requires candidates to hold a valid provisional, permanent, initial or professional certificate for classroom teaching service or counseling. Additionally, candidates shall have completed 600 clock hours of work experience outside of teaching in the classroom teaching service.

Outcomes

Successful completion of both courses, offered at both the undergraduate or graduate level, will provide you with the tools and skills necessary to implement and operate a Work-Based Learning program. Work-Based Learning programs are key components to the Career and Technical Education Endorsement for the New York State Regents diploma, and your certification extension in this area is crucial to CTE Endorsement for each student who meets the requirements.

  •  CTE 465/565 Introduction to Work-Based Learning- 3 cr. hrs. (First course in the series)
  • CTE 466/566 Implementing and Evaluating Work-Based Learning Programs- 3 cr. hrs. (Second course in series)
