Campus commitment to safety
At SUNY Oswego, we pride ourselves on being a campus committed to the welfare and safety of its students, faculty, staff and friends. At the heart of our efforts is the charge to all members of the community to work together to create a safe campus environment through education, collaboration, communication and community empowerment.
We have established security policies and educational programming dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure environment in which to live and study, and provides resources and communication outlets to ensure timely notification and greater community awareness.
University Police - The New York State University Police Department is the agency responsible for law enforcement and public safety on campus. In partnership with the SUNY Oswego community, University Police is committed to providing a safe and secure educational environment.
Title IX - Title IX is the federal anti-discrimination law that bans sex discrimination throughout the college and campus community, and prohibits sexual harassment, including sexual violence and sexual assault.
Counseling Services Center – The counseling services center provides free and confidential mental health assistance for all enrolled students to encourage a healthy mind and body.
Environmental Health & Safety – The EH&S team is responsible for providing campus-wide compliance with federal, state and local environmental, safety, and fire regulations in their mission to increase the environmental stewardship and safety awareness of all who thrive within the campus community.
Emergency Preparedness and Procedures – We offer a variety of responses and information regarding emergency and hazard response in an effort to provide the campus community with basic, yet essential information in preparation for or in response to a real emergency.

Emergency Communications – We encourage you to stay informed of potential emergencies or incidents affecting the SUNY Oswego community; receive updates and important instructions through various digital outlets.
New York Alert – We are one of many State University campuses that have adopted NY Alert, an emergency messaging service offered through the State Emergency Management Office that assists the college in sending emergency alerts to those who have signed up to receive important information.
Rave Guardian - This campus safety app enhances safety on campus through real-time interactive features that allow the user to create a virtual safety network of friends, family, and campus safety personnel.
