Flu Season is Upon Us
Dear Members of the Campus Community,
With the recent arrival of the spring season, many of us are beginning to enjoy the warmer weather, later sunsets, budding trees and flowers, outdoor activities and the anticipation of Commencement. Unfortunately, it also means that the flu (influenza) season is upon us.
SUNY Oswego is seeing an increased presence of flu cases on our campus and we want to remind all students and employees of the specific steps you can take to protect yourselves from getting the flu and/or spreading the flu virus.
Members of the SUNY Oswego community are strongly encouraged to follow these important recommendations:
- Mask indoors at all times, except when in your room or eating, during flu season. Wearing a mask indoors will also protect you and others against the COVID-19 virus.
- Wash your hands frequently
- Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
- Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing. After using a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash hands or use hand sanitizer
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- If you develop a fever, do not attend class or events until you are fever free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medication
- Contact Health Services if you are not feeling well or exhibit symptoms
Thank you in advance for your commitment to taking steps to keep yourself and our campus community healthy. If you have any questions, please email whealth@oswego.edu.
Stay safe,
