Today as our nation celebrates Veterans Day and honors the selfless service of our veterans and active-duty military, please join me and the extended SUNY Oswego family in taking a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of our nation’s soldiers. More importantly, if you are afforded the opportunity today and throughout the upcoming year, please offer your personal thanks and appreciation to those who currently wear or have proudly worn the uniform of our nation. These individuals, often characterized as our nation’s heroes, are worthy of our collective thanks and praise.
The SUNY Oswego community takes great pride in being recognized and consistently ranked for our strong military and veteran services. We proudly honor our veterans and active-duty military – our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who have served – for it is they who make SUNY Oswego a sought after place for veterans and who motivate us year-round to uphold SUNY Oswego’s tradition of support and service for all.
Later today, SUNY Oswego will host its annual Veterans Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the new home for the Battle Buddy Center – Sheldon Hall, Room 313. All veterans and military affiliated students and employees, as well as their supporters, are encouraged to attend, enjoy food and refreshments, and check out the new location.
Most importantly, let us celebrate Veterans Day and acknowledge the impact our veteran presence has on the university community and across the globe. Thank you for your past, present and future efforts to serve and protect.
With gratitude,
Mary C. Toale, Ed.D.
Officer in Charge
