Apparent business scam targeting our students
January 17, 2019 - 9:22am
Some of our students have alerted us to what appears to be a misrepresented business offer from an alleged employer referencing our Career Services Office. However, these emails — seen as from a “Tammy Hill <job@hillceng.com>” — do not come from anybody with a relationship with the college, and then offer a different picture of job duties upon response.
As a policy, Career Services never provides employers, or anyone else, contact information of our students. Job opportunities, internships and other placements are listed on the online Handshake platform for students and employers.
We appreciate the vigilance of students who were skeptical about these emails and always welcome anybody taking actions against suspicious and/or phishing emails. Marking emails as spam or phishing will help Google better detect illicit messages in the future.
If you ever have questions or concerns about suspicious-looking emails, please contact our Help Desk at help@oswego.edu or 315.312.3456.
