Dear Residential Students,

I know that you have been receiving a wealth of information as you make plans to return to campus for the spring. Please know the goal is to give you the best residential experience possible while doing our best to help keep you safe and healthy. This letter is for every student living on campus in a residence hall/Village Townhouse for the Spring 2021 semester.

New Student/Transfer Room Assignments

Room assignments will be available at myhousing.oswego.edu.

Move-in Days

First Year/Transfer/Returning students will move in Sunday, January 24 – Thursday, January 28 between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm. The last move-in slot is from 3 pm – 4 pm. Students will not be allowed to arrive after 4 pm as all students will need to be tested before they enter their residence halls. Students that need to move-in after the stated move-in days and times (Jan 24-28) should contact Residence Life & Housing at reslife@oswego.edu for additional instructions and support.

Baseline COVID-19 testing:

All students are required to test on campus (at our Lee Hall Testing Center) before they are allowed to move into their residence hall. Students will report to Lee Hall to take their test before they can report to their residence hall. Students who report to their residence hall without testing will be sent back to the testing center. All students must be tested on or before Thursday, January 28, to receive test results before classes begin on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021.  Note: Students who have tested positive for COVID-19 within 90 days of arrival are exempt from participating in campus testing but must provide evidence of the positive test result to SUNY Oswego’s Health Services office at whealth@oswego.edu.

Move-in Sign-up

To keep the density low while on campus and within the move-in process we have limited the number of move-in time slots available. While family and guests can still accompany students during the move-in process the number of students and guests within the residence halls will be limited.

Students can log in at “myHousing.oswego.edu” and select the day and time for move-in. Please choose carefully as once you have selected a time; we are unable to change the time and day. We realize that plans will change and that delays due to traffic, and events may impact the day and time that you have selected. We will do our best to work with students and families while ensuring the safety measures that we have in place.

To sign-up for a move-in time use the following steps:

  1. Go to “myHousing.oswego.eduno later than Monday, January 18, 2021.
  2. Log in with your Lakernet ID and password
  3. Scroll down to “Room Assignments” where you will see “Student Move in - Spring 2021”
  4.  “Select a move-in day and time” (students can only sign-up for days and times available))
  5. Speak with your family before you select a day and time.
  6. Once you select your day and time it will be displayed within the portal.
  7. Additional information will be sent to your oswego.edu email closer to move-in with directions and additional information
  8. Students that need to move-in after or before the stated move-in days (Jan 24-28) should contact Residence Life & Housing at reslife@oswego.edu for additional instructions and support.

What can I expect when I move-in?

A contact-less process (remote room check-in) and more social distance between you and other students moving in.

Arriving to campus: When students arrive to campus, they should make their way to Lee Hall. Students will be asked to park in lots 17 and 23 which are close to Lee Hall. Friends and family must wait in the car. For students who plan to take the bus/uber into campus there will be luggage storage available in the MCC. Students will be able to leave their items at the MCC so that they can walk over to Lee Hall to take their test.

Testing Registration: Students will need their cell phone and their campus ID to complete the registration process.

Prior to sample collection: Students will need to ensure that:

  • Within the past three hours, they have not brushed their teeth or used mouthwash.
  • Within the past 30 minutes that they have not eaten or drank anything, including mints, gum, or lozenges.
  • Ensure in the past 30 minutes that they have not smoked or used smokeless tobacco products

Check-In Process: Once students complete their test in Lee Hall, they will be sent to the Residence Life & Housing check in tables. Students will receive additional information and be checked into their room remotely. Once checked in students will be allowed to head to their residence hall room.

We expect all students and visitors to wear a face cover/mask throughout the check-in process, in the residence halls, and while on campus.
