Update on Self-Study Preparation Efforts
January 8, 2021 - 9:28am
Dear Colleagues,
We hope you had a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday and that 2021 is off to a wonderful start for you. We are writing to provide an update on our Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Self-Study preparation efforts and to celebrate all we achieved in the fall 2020 semester.
Our most important milestone achieved was the acceptance of our Self-Study Design by MSCHE following our successful virtual Self-Study Preparation Visit on November 2, 2020 with MSCHE Vice Presidents Dr. Paul Starkey and Dr. Ellie Fogarty! The acceptance of our Self-Study Design assures us that our Self-Study efforts, process and timeline are appropriate and well-planned. The acceptance of our Self-Study Design also enables us to continue to move forward with our timeline for creating our Self-Study report, due to MSCHE in 2021-2022.
Please visit our MSCHE Self-Study process website to view a record of our meetings held to date, to recognize the names of our colleagues who are directly contributing to the information gathering, analysis and/or drafting of our Self-Study report documents, and to read related documents and MSCHE accepted reports.
Also on our Self-Study process website is a PDF titled "Fall 2020 Recap and Spring 2021 Preview" that provides a detailed recap of the work accomplished together by us and over 80 of our colleagues who are serving on a Self-Study related steering and/or subcommittee and/or a workgroup. Included in the PDF is the timeline of the action items we intend to accomplish January thru May 2021 – including sharing the first draft of our Self-Study report with the campus community for review and comment by April 1, 2021.
Thank you, again, to all of you who have shared your time, thoughts and knowledge with us over the last year. We look forward to continuing our work together in the months ahead. If you would like more information, we welcome you to contact us at any time via email at Richard.Back@oswego.edu and Kristi.Eck@oswego.edu.
Best regards,
Richard Back, Associate Professor, Biological Sciences and Self-Study Co-Chair
