SUNY Oswego partners with Centro to make campus and local transportation safe and easy. By showing a valid SUNY Oswego ID and sticker, you can access campus and city routes for free, and travel to Syracuse for a reduced rate! We also offer multiple travel services to help you get home during break so you can rest and relax.
Coming to Oswego
For students without a car, the best method of traveling long distance is by connecting through Syracuse and then traveling via bus, train or plane. Hancock International is the closest airport, while the Regional Transportation Center (RTC) is the major departure point for trains and buses. Both hubs are about an hour's distance from SUNY Oswego.
Syracuse/Hancock International Airport is the closest airport to Oswego. Centro buses to Oswego do NOT service the airport. Although there is cab service, it is very expensive all the way to Oswego.
Another option after arriving at Hancock International is to take a cab 7 miles to the Regional Transportation Center (RTC) then take a Centro bus to campus (see Centro information in the By Bus or Train section below).
There is no bus service from Syracuse to Oswego after 6:45pm. Plan accordingly!
Greyhound, Trailways, MegaBus, and Amtrak all travel into Syracuse to the Regional Transportation Center (RTC).
Greyhound
There is no bus service from Syracuse to Oswego after 6:45pm. We suggest the following option:
- Bus departs NYC at 8:45 am and arrives at Syracuse RTC at 1:35 pm. Then, take a Centro bus to Marano Campus Center (see details below).
Amtrak
The cost for the train ranges between $52-75 if purchased in advance. Student discounts are available. Before traveling, view the luggage policy.
There is no bus service from Syracuse to Oswego after 6:45pm. We suggest one of the following options:
- Maple Leaf departs Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station (NYP) at 7:15 am and arrives at Syracuse RTC at 12:53 pm. Then, take a Centro bus to Marano Campus Center (see details below).
- Empire Service departs Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station (NYP) at 10:20 am and arrives at Syracuse RTC at 3:55 pm. Then, take a Centro bus to Marano Campus Center (see details below).
Centro
Centro is our regional bus company. Syracuse-Oswego #246 departs from SYR Regional Transportation Center and arrives at Marano Campus Center (central part of campus). Note: This bus does NOT go around the campus.
- Centro buses leave the RTC weekdays at 6:37 am, 8:02 am, 11:40 am, 1:15 pm, 4:54 pm, and 6:45 pm. On Saturday/Sunday, buses run at 10:50 am, 1:30 pm and 6:50 pm (effective 3/7/22).
- Syracuse-Oswego #246 schedule aligns with the arrival of Amtrak trains and buses, specifically the Centro buses that depart for Oswego weekdays at 1:15 pm and 4:54 pm.

Traveling between Oswego and Syracuse
Centro buses run from Oswego to Syracuse making stops along the way in Fulton, Phoenix, Liverpool. Popular stops on this route include the shopping area in Clay, Destiny USA in Syracuse and the Regional Transportation Center where you can connect to other bus and train services.
Cost: Reduced fair, $2 each way (cash only). Reduced fare requires valid Oswego student ID and SA sticker. Not available winter or summer breaks.
Getting Around the City of Oswego
Centro buses connect students to shopping and restaurants throughout the city and downtown Oswego. This service is free to all students who pay their SA fee and have the SA sticker on their valid Oswego student ID, which can be picked up at the Check Cashing window of the Marano Campus Center Box Office during operating hours.
Getting Around Campus
SUNY Oswego offers a free campus shuttle with continuous loop service to all students.
Blue Route
Runs from Marano Campus Center to various locations north of Route 104
Green Route
Runs from Marano Campus Center to Commuter Lot 7, Laker Hall, Rice Creek
