"Our Oswego family, under the leadership of President Stanley, is dedicated to providing resources and access to the highest quality education and experience. Thank you to our alumni, students, parents, friends and donors who helped us surpass our historic goal as we are tremendously proud of what has been accomplished through your steadfast support of this campaignWith Passion & Purpose."

Education transforms an individual’s life, and that process begins with access. One of the most significant accomplishments of this campaign has been substantially increasing support for student scholarships and programs.

With Passion & Purpose: The Campaign for SUNY Oswego established 76 new scholarships and increased the endowment levels on 100 existing scholarships. These gifts are making a SUNY Oswego education within reach for more students and are easing the burden of student loan debt.

Since our founding 155 years ago, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to make education accessible to people from all walks of life. The new need-based scholarships created during this campaign will enable eager learners—who may not have the financial means to attend college, including many first-generation college students—to obtain a college education. Through their Oswego experience, these students will better themselves, expand their worldview and become productive, engaged citizens who will serve their communities.

The Possibility Scholarships are providing critical support to students who are interested in pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), an area predicted to experience double-digital job growth in the coming years. The program offers students much more than financial aid. It gives them summer research experiences, including an international travel experience, as well as a strong faculty support system.

In addition to supporting students with financial need, new privately funded merit scholarships are attracting top performing students to Oswego in increasing numbers. Awarding these merit scholarships to the most talented students does more than reward individuals for excellent academic work and future promise. Above all, it brings to campus passionate learners whose academic focus and ability raise the level of intellectual vitality and rigor in the classroom and across the entire campus community.

Other funds target graduate-level students whose passion to dive deep into their area of interest inspire undergraduates and faculty alike, change students' worldview by providing them the opportunity to study abroad, and support student success and provide students with skills to achieve inside the classroom, in their professional careers and in their personal lives.
