Career Apprenticeship Initiative

Thanks to the CenterState CEO Foundation and the Career Apprenticeship Initiative, SUNY Oswego will be once again teaming up with our economic development partners in Central New York on an innovative program to help a select group of new graduates launch their careers here in Central New York.

This Career Apprenticeship Initiative will connect SUNY Oswego students with regional employers for 12-month, full-time, paid apprenticeship positions. 

Who is eligible

December '23 and May '24 graduates from the following majors are encouraged to apply!

Position: Information Security Apprentice

Description:

The IT Security Apprentice role is an opportunity to work alongside the IT Security Team to develop, coordinate and see through successful delivery of projects related to the Security Team.  As part of this team you will learn how to log review, user requests, procedure creation, network scanning, security alert investigations, risk analysis and incident response. 

 

Crouse Health

Position: Communications Assistant

Description:

The hospital's Communications Department handles a variety of internal and external communications efforts for a broad spectrum of publics, including patients and their families, employees, physicians, media, community members and local and state government. Depending on skill level, the Communications assistant may : conduct interviews, draft articles and take photos for internal and external communication pieces, draft and send news releases, assist with messaging on social media, assist with special events within and outside the hospital, assist with content on Internal Intranet and hospital webpage, assist with preparation of and participation in employee activity events, assist with mailings and the distribution of communications pieces, update media list and collect news clips, provide communications/logistic support for Community Engagement initiatives, both internally and externally.

 

Environmental Design & Research

Position: Technical Writing Coordinator

Description:

EDR is currently seeking a versatile, team-oriented Technical Writing Coordinator candidate with demonstrated interest in writing and editing technical reports as well as more general marketing materials. The qualified candidate would support EDR’s Marketing, Environmental Services, Visualization, Planning, and Policy groups, and primary responsibilities would include the coordination, preparation, review, and quality assurance of written marketing, policy, planning, scientific, and technical documents. These documents may range from scientific research reviews, regulatory applicability analyses, sections of complex permit applications, and environmental impact review reports produced by EDR’s various subject matter experts. The Technical Writing Coordinator will also act as a liaison between teams to help track and coordinate writing and editing needs as well as timelines for written work. The ideal candidate will conduct research and work with internal subject matter experts to create or enhance content. The mission of the Technical Writer is to assure technical clarity, grammatical accuracy, consistency with formatting, adherence to EDR or client document standards, etc. while effectively working in a fast paced, friendly, and dedicated team setting.

Position: Bioprocess Associate 1

Description:

This is an entry level position that does not require a specialized background. Biologics orientation and job function training will be provided. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with classified areas requiring clean hygiene, specified gowning, and personal protective equipment (PPE). This is not a lab position. 100% onsite. Opportunities exist for ongoing growth and development. A Bioprocess Associate foundation can open a pathway to careers in manufacturing, supply chain, quality, automation, and more.

 

Research and Marketing Strategies

Position: Market Research Specialist

Description:

RMS is a full-service market research firm providing a full array of qualitative and quantitative research. The company has clients across the country.  RMS serves many industry segments including not-for-profits, manufacturing, and retail.  The types of research work include feasibility studies, brand equity, competitive assessments, satisfaction surveys, employee surveys and location analysis.  The company also performs qualitative research such as focus groups, intercepts, and in-depth interviews.  The RMS team is very focused on ensuring that it builds a strong, highly effective team of colleagues that work collaboratively.  The Marketing and Research Specialist will be tailored to expose the employee to all facets of the organization and serve as a staff support person for a designated timeframe.  Job duties will include research design study and survey programming, data analysis and review, respondent recruiting, database management, client workplan management, maintaining corporate key performing indicators, managing fieldwork activities, assisting with general prospecting and business development activities, and performing quality check operations.

 

SUNY Upstate Medical University

Position: Employee/Labor Relations Intern

Description:

The Employee/Labor Relations (E/LR) Specialist will support the activities of Employee Labor Relations within the Human Resources Department and will also interact with several other key areas to include Recruitment; Benefits; Compensation and Staffing. 

 

Syracuse Housing Authority

Position: Assistant Resident Support Services Coordinator

Description:

The work involves responsibility for providing limited-service coordination for Syracuse Housing Authority residents and their families. This position requires the employee to help persons with social, emotional, financial, family, housing, and related problems and to meet with staff members from within the Housing Authority or from outside agencies to obtain assistance and guidance for clients. Employees provide service to people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and family composition and most are classified as low-income.
