Career Peer Assistants

Career Peer Assistants for 2023/24

Ryan Stiles
Student Staff and Operations Coordinator

Year:

Graduate Studies

Major:

Higher Education Leadership

Goals:

My primary career aspiration is to work in higher education, particularly in a leadership role that allows me to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and personal development. I’m especially interested in international education and would love the opportunity to work abroad, ideally in Asia, where I can contribute to global education initiatives. Ultimately, my goal is to create inclusive and supportive environments in educational institutions where students from diverse backgrounds can thrive. I’m passionate about helping students navigate their academic journeys, particularly those who, like me, may not have had a clear cultural or support system growing up. By fostering a strong sense of community and offering guidance, I hope to help others achieve their goals and realize their potential.

Clubs/Orgs.:

I am actively involved on campus as the Career Services Student Staff and Operations Coordinator, where I play a crucial role in supporting both students and staff. I work closely with the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at SUNY Oswego, where I mentor students and help them connect with resources that will enhance their college experience. In addition to these roles, I serve on several committees at SUNY Oswego, including the Civic Engagement Committee, the Scholarly and Creative Activity Committee (SCAC), and the LGBTQIA++ Committee. I am also a member of the Pride Alliance LGBTQIA++ Student Organization and ride on the Equestrian Club Team. In the broader community, I volunteer for my local 4-H horse club and the local high school FFA club, sharing my passion for equestrian activities and supporting youth development. When I’m not on campus or volunteering, I enjoy spending my free time hiking with my two dogs or riding my horses.
