Google Drive Application for Macs and PCs Shutting Down May 12
Google has announced that the Google Drive application for Macs and PCs will be shutdown on May 12. This is an application locally installed on a Mac or PC to sync files on the computer with Google Drive in the cloud. Google is shutting down the Mac and PC application in support of newer apps such as Google Backup and Sync or Google File Stream. CTS recommends migrating to Google Backup and Sync.
The shutdown of Google Drive for Mac and PC will be gradual over the course of the next couple of weeks. When the service has been disabled, a message will appear letting you know. This message will refer to using Google File Stream, but we recommend Google Backup and Sync instead. Once you receive the message, the folder on the computer that allows the syncing to take place will still be available, but the syncing feature will stop working.
