October is National Cybersecurity Month
Our online security continues to be very important as we do more online in our professional and personal lives. National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) helps educate people on everyday things that could help make our online data more secure. For example, putting a passcode on your mobile phone in case it gets stolen or lost, removing sticky notes that have written passwords from your monitor or under your keyboard, and locking your computer screen when you leave your office can all contribute to more secure environments.
This year CTS will be providing security information centered around specific themes, security contests, and a cybersecurity speaker. We hope you directly benefit from our efforts to help promote NCSAM.
Weekly Themes
For this year’s NCSAM, CTS is featuring weekly themes, two contests, and a cybersecurity speaker to help raise awareness. Our weekly themes are:
-
Week 1: Privacy - Know who has access to your data
-
Week 2: Make your home a haven
-
Week 3: Mobile security
-
Week 4: Online safety@work
You will see weekly Oswegonian ads, posters, and articles on the CTS Facebook and Twitter pages that will provide tips and tricks related to these themes to keep your data more secure. For more details and tips check out our Cybersecurity page.
