History
Funtion
Moreland Hall is the southern of the two residence halls within Mackin Complex. Moreland Hall and the rest of Mackin are located at the far east edge of the SUNY Oswego campus, so residents fall within city limits and are residents of the City of Oswego, as well as the college. Moreland’s student rooms resemble most other double bedrooms in form and function, with two beds, desks, closets and dressers. One added benefit for residents is that all bedrooms include a 9 cubic-ft. refrigerator.
Namesake
Opened in 1951 along with the rest of the Mackin Complex, Moreland Hall was dedicated in honor of James Moreland, who passed away mere months before the hall opened. Moreland served as a member of the faculty for 15 years and taught English, recruited prospective students and advised freshmen.
