*Lactation rooms are kept locked all the time and the mother would need a key to enter the room. The front desk will have a copy of the key.
History
Function
Penfield Library was a part of the Academic Commons built between 1961 and 1969. It was part of a construction project that included Mahar, Lanigan, Culkin and Tyler Halls.
Namesake
Opened in 1968, the library’s namesake is Lida S. Penfield, a mainstay during her time at SUNY Oswego. In addition to serving as the chairwoman of the English Department, Penfield penned a book in 1919 titled “Stories of Oswego; Tales of the early days told to the children of the Oswego normal training school” and aided in the inaugural Torchlight Ceremony in 1936.
