UUP/Management Confidential New Hire Process

Department Chair/Dean's Office/Supervisor: Accepted offer from candidate. Please be sure to get the new employees’ social security number, date of birth, and permanent home address to indicate on the appointment form. This will also help speed up the onboarding process.

Department Chair/Dean's Office/Supervisor: Complete the electronic unclassified service appointment form through Hirezon/Interview Exchange and submit for approval.

*Please be sure to use reasonable start dates as the process takes time before a new employee is fully onboarded.

Human Resources: 

  1. Human Resources receives the appointment form last. Once approved, HR will generate a banner number/ID number for the new employee. A new hire welcome email is then sent to the employee welcoming them to SUNY Oswego with instructions on how to activate their SUNY Oswego email account and guidance on their first few months on campus.
  2. HR will process the appointment form in SUNY HR (payroll) and send the employee their contract letter electronically through Hirezon/Interview Exchange.
  3. HR will also send an electronic New Hire Packet through Hirezon/Interview Exchange to the new employee with all the required new hire paperwork.
  4. Lastly, HR will reach out to the new employee with an invitation to a Benefits Orientation with Devin Higgins, Benefits Manager, to go over their benefits and new hire paperwork.
