UUP Professional Initial Appointment and Renewal Procedures

Temporary Appointments: An electronic unclassified service appointment form must be completed through Hirezon/Interview Exchange for initial appointments and any extensions/renewals. As a reminder the employee is automatically terminated off from the payroll by the end date indicated on the appointment form. If this employee will be extended/renewed the electronic unclassified service appointment form must be processed in a timely manner to avoid termination. At this time, the original performance program for the upcoming year and evaluation for the previous year should be sent to the HR Office.

Term Appointments: An electronic unclassified service appointment form must be completed through Hirezon/Interview Exchange for initial appointments and for every year the employee is renewed for 7 years until they are eligible for permanent appointment. The original performance program for the upcoming year and evaluation from the previous year must be sent to the HR Office with the renewal each year.

Permanent Appointments: Once an employee has reached their 7 years of full-time consecutive service and the supervisor would like to recommend permanent appointment the following is required: an up-to-date performance program and evaluation (noting the recommendation). All documents must be sent to the next level supervisor for review and approval. If approved, the evaluation (noting the recommendation) will be signed and forward onto Human Resources for processing. Once an employee is permanent an unclassified appointment form each year is no longer necessary. The original performance program for the upcoming year and evaluation from the previous year will need to be submitted to the HR Office annually.

Appendix A Appointments: An electronic unclassified service appointment form must be completed through Hirezon/Interview Exchange for initial Appendix A appointments and for every year the employee is renewed. The employee should receive three 1-year renewals then start to receive the 5-year appointments thereafter. The original performance program for the upcoming year and evaluation for the previous year will need to be sent to the HR Office annually.
