SUNY Oswego’s Division of Graduate Studies will celebrate Graduate Studies Week, Nov. 8 to 12, with presentations, discussions, awards, a range of social activities and more both on the main Oswego campus and the college’s Syracuse Campus.

The college’s State Employee Federated Appeals (SEFA) campaign has a number of events and ways the campus community can help local charities in November.

Eddie Glaude Jr., a bestselling author and chair of the African American studies department at Princeton University, will speak to a SUNY Oswego audience at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 in the Marano Campus Center auditorium as part of the “I Am Oz” Diversity Speaker Series.

George Brauchler, the former district attorney for Colorado's 18th Judicial District, will draw from experience in presenting “Anatomy of a Mass Shooting Prosecution” at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132), as part of SUNY Oswego’s Cutler Speaker Series.

SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras, state legislators, construction and design partners and the campus community celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 1 that marked the official start of the $80 million Hewitt Hall renovation project that will turn the former student union into a state-of-the-art home for Oswego's School of Communication, Media and the Arts.

A new location for the college's Office of Sustainability provides additional space for its projects but a continued focus on environmentally sustainable operations and iniatives.

Launch It, the college’s annual student entrepreneur competition, returns in late September in an expanded format.

On Sept. 11, 2001, breaking news of terrorist attacks claiming thousands of lives brought shock and sadness to campus, including word of 12 alumni who died that tragic day. But the campus community’s resiliency and resolve shone through, as a huge crowd turned out for a candlelight vigil that evening.

Providing variety and convenience to complement the traditional dining hall experience, SUNY Oswego’s retail dining options have returned to operation throughout campus, with new offerings adding to a rich menu.
