Registration for semester library study carrels begins today

Penfield Library is once again offering private study carrels for students, faculty and professional staff. These semester-long study carrels provide individuals with dedicated space in the library for study and research. Offered on a first-come, first-served basis, registration begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, and continues until gone.

SEFA continuing to support Totally Teal campaign

With September as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of the late Mary Gosek, the SUNY Oswego SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) campaign will continue the Totally Teal campaign for fundraising and awareness. 

A gathering and walk of remembrance will take place at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 19. For this popular annual event, participants are asked to wear teal and gather in front of Culkin Hall for a photo and a walk around the lagoon. Refreshments will be available after the walk.

Bargains available at this week's Oz Thrift Sale

The Office of Sustainability starts the fall semester with the bi-annual Oz Thrift Sale, filled with new-to-you bargains and treasures through this weekend.

Hours for the sale, taking place in the Sheldon Hall lower level, are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday (Aug. 24 and 25), and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 26 and 27).

Note that Sunday is bag sale day, where visitors can bring in a bag and fill it for $5.

SEFA hosting 2023 fall mums fundraiser for community causes

The 2023 State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Fall Garden mums sale is now open, leading off the fall on-campus fundraising campaign that supports area charities.

Members of the campus community can purchase big, beautiful eight-inch potted mums provided by Oliver Paine Greenhouses in Fulton featuring colors that include yellow, white, lavender (purple), red (maroon) and bronze (orange). All proceeds from this popular event support SEFA’s 2023-24 campaign.

Panopto Retention Policy goes into effect Sept. 19

Campus Technology Services will implement a new retention policy for cloud storage with the Panopto video service. The new retention policy will be as follows:

  • Archive all content not viewed within the last two years
  • Removal of all content not viewed within the last three years

While archived content is still in Panopto, you must request that it be restored, which can take up to 48 hours.

Auditions for 'The Importance of Being Earnest' happen this week

The SUNY Oswego Theatre Department is auditioning student actors on Wednesday, Aug. 30, and Thursday, Aug. 31, for the fall '23 production of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest." Auditions will take place in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. both days.

The university production of the famous comedy will run Oct. 18 to 22.

Deadlines ahead for filing for May 2024 graduation

Undergraduate students who will be graduating as of May 2024 and who have not yet filed online to graduate should do so as soon as possible.

CTS migrating to new ticketing system on Friday

Campus Technology Services (CTS) will be migrating from the ServiceNow ticketing system to a new system called TeamDynamix. The ticketing system helps campus technology staff manage and resolve any technical issues the campus community may have using digital services. The migration will take place this Friday, Aug. 18, starting at 4 p.m.
