Event invites conversations with off-campus, commuter students

The Office of the Dean of Students staff will host conversations with off-campus and commuter students in quick chats about their experiences from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, in Marano Campus Center, outside the Compass and just below the Chu Atrium. 

Off-campus and commuter students are welcome to drop by to say hello and engage in quick convesations. The first five students for each hour will receive a coupon for a discounted beverage on campus.

SEFA Talent Showcase lineup taking shape; slots still available

The lineup for the second annual State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Talent Showcase -- starting around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Oswego's Bridie Manor -- is starting to come together, with additional applications welcome through Monday, Nov. 7.

Deadline approaching for Productivity Enhancement Program for CSEA, UUP

The 2023 Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP) allows eligible employees represented by the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) and United University Professions (UUP) to exchange vacation leave for a credit to be applied toward their health insurance premium. The enrollment period for the 2023 calendar year is open through Monday, Dec. 12, 2022.

For those who enroll, the PEP Credit will be applied to biweekly paychecks issued between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 in 2023.

ASAP session promotes services of Writing Center and Penfield Library

SUNY Oswego's ASAP (Adult Student Assistance Programs) will present on the many valuable services available through the university's Writing Center and Penfield Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

Flex Spending enrollment open with Dec. 12 deadline

The open enrollment period for 2023 Flex Spending Account is open through Dec. 12, 2022. The Flex Spending Account (FSA) includes the Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAAccount) and the HealthCare Spending Account (HCSAccount).

State employees may contribute anywhere from $100 to $3,050 per year on a pre-tax basis through payroll deduction to an HCSAccount for eligible healthcare expenses that are not reimbursed by insurance, and up to $5,000 per year per household to a DCAAccount for elder care, disabled dependent care or child care expenses.

Lost – then found – operetta 'The Golden Cage' details Oswego’s one-of-a-kind refugee center

The operetta “The Golden Cage” –- first staged in 1945 at a one-of-a-kind refugee shelter and only recently rediscovered –- will showcase Oswego’s singular historic role when the Oswego Opera Theater stages it at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 13 in SUNY Oswego’s Waterman Theater.

Open house Nov. 5 for Lake-Effect Electrification Project

The campus and community are invited to check out some research tools firsthand and learn more about SUNY Oswego's Lake-Effect Electrification (LEE) project funded by the National Science Foundation during a public open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Shuttle service to and from campus available during Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving Break shuttle buses will be available for departing campus on Nov. 18 and 19 and returning to campus on Nov. 27. The shuttles will make stops at the Regional Transportation Center and Hancock International Airport in Syracuse. Tickets can be purchased through the Box Office for $10.50.

Two free Open Skate sessions for students scheduled

SUNY Oswego Campus Recreation is excited to invite students to two free Open Skate sessions, where all levels of experience are welcome. Students can grab their skates (or rent them) and head to the rink.
