Bestselling author, Princeton chair to speak Nov. 4 in ‘I Am Oz’ series

Eddie Glaude Jr., a bestselling author and chair of the African American studies department at Princeton University, will speak to a SUNY Oswego audience at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 in the Marano Campus Center auditorium as part of the “I Am Oz” Diversity Speaker Series.

National Transfer Student Week begins today with variety of activities

SUNY Oswego celebrates National Transfer Student Week from Oct. 18 to 22. The week will feature a variety of events including transfer-specific advisement, information about internships, how to market their transfer-unique skills on LinkedIn, connecting and networking with transfer alumni and ending the week with a social event with Tau Sigma, the National Transfer Student Honor Society.

Pumpkin Run/Walk to help fight hunger locally

The SUNY Oswego Fitness Centers will host the 14th annual Great Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22.

The entry fee is $5 and all proceeds benefit the Oswego chapter of Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization that provides food to area school children at risk of going hungry on the weekend.

Participants can register online before Thursday, Oct. 21, or register the day of the event beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food court.

Pink Day fundraising returns Oct. 22

Pink Day, a student-faculty collaborative effort to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer, will take place this year on Oct. 22 in the Marano Campus Center. The college's State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign sponsors this year's efforts.

Employees can wear jeans and pink on this day for a $5 donation via the SEFA campaign storefront. Proceeds from this event will remain local as they support the Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services Program.

Mystery-filled Halloween bash slated Oct. 19

The student organization Her Campus invites members of the campus community to join the spooky festivities at their Halloween bash at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19.

The event, which will take place at Premiere Living Suites, 247 West Utica St. in Oswego, will include a murder mystery game called Mafia. Attendees are invited to dress up for a costume contest. The winner of each will receive a goodie bag of prizes. Candy, food and refreshments will be provided.
