Important Information

Date and time

  • The summer camp starts on July 1 and ends on July 20. Instruction runs from Monday to Friday; classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. The closing ceremony is on Saturday, July 20 and will begin at 10 a.m. Students should arrive on time every day. If they cannot come, the parent/ guardian must notify the program staff as soon as possible.

Daily Routine

  • Students should be dropped off between 8:40 and 9:00 a.m. each morning, and should be picked up between 3:00 to 3:10 p.m. each day. SUNY Oswego and STARTALK staff will not provide after-program care, transportation to and from the summer camp, or the parking fee.
Sign in and sign out

  • Parents are required to walk their children to the campsite and sign in with the program staff each morning. Program staff will be waiting at the entrance to welcome them and lead the children to their classrooms. Parents/ guardians or other approved persons, as defined on this application, will need to sign the children out each afternoon.

Classrooms

  • Participants will be placed in 4 classes based on their grades, levels of proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, and Chinese language background.

Lunch

  • Students need to bring their own lunch. The program will provide refreshments every day.
Clothing

  • Students must wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes (no heels!).
Personal Items

  • If participants choose to bring their cell phones, electronics, and other personal items, the camp will not be responsible if they are lost or damaged.
