SUNY Oswego’s quest to create an exceptional intellectual community begins with recruiting and retaining extraordinary faculty — a celebrated cadre of “teacher-scholars” who are passionate about mentoring students and advancing meaningful research. Through this campaign, the college has established an endowed chair of chemistry, several endowed departmental and school excellence funds and a faculty award for excellence in research and teaching.
Through the significant growth of the endowment during the campaign, the campus received more annual support in the form of dean’s discretionary funds, grants for creative and scholarly research, travel support for faculty and students, coverage of conference and competition fees, equipment and classroom supply purchases, and a host of other ways that optimize the educational impact of an Oswego education.
In addition, the college invested in programs that further the discovery and application of new knowledge and prepare students for purposeful lives in the real world. Support, such as the WTOP Excellence Fund and the Center for Accounting Research and Education (CARE) Fund, helped students get hands-on learning opportunities to put their classroom lessons to practice.
