Assisting students that experience drug or alcohol abuse issues
Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching
Student success is hinged on many factors. One of these factors is the abuse of alcohol and other drugs. While recent data (Faculty CORE2010) tells us that faculty are concerned about drugs and academics, we are also finding that many faculty members may not be sure of what their role is in helping students, or even how to identify a drug and alcohol related problem in the classroom. This workshop is designed to give faculty and staff members the knowledge and skills needed to properly identify and intervene with a student who may be experiencing academic problems due to these issues, information about how to prevent these issues with your students, and information about the resources that are available to you if alcohol and other drug issues arise.
