Accredited Programs

SUNY Oswego is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org (1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801). SUNY Oswego’s accreditation status is Accreditation Reaffirmed.  The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on June 23, 2022 was to reaffirm accreditation.  The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2029-30.  MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The School of Business is accredited by AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) (777 South Harbour Island Boulevard, Suite 750, Tampa, Florida 33602 USA; https://www.aacsb.edu/). SUNY Oswego’s AACSB accreditation was most recently reaffirmed in January 2023.  The next AACSB accreditation review scheduled for the School of Business is in 2027-28.

The teacher preparation and professional school personnel programs at the State University of New York at Oswego are accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The State University of New York at Oswego, including the Art & Design Department, is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) (11250 Roger Bacon Drive, Suite 21, Reston, VA 20190-5248, 703.437.0700; https://nasad.arts-accredit.org/). Accreditation was most recently reaffirmed in 2010. The next NASAD comprehensive review will occur in 2021-22.

The Chemistry Department’s chemistry and biochemistry programs are accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS) (1155 Sixteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036, 800.333.9511; https://acs.org/). Oswego’s ACS accreditation was most recently reaffirmed in 2016.  The next comprehensive review will occur in 2021.

The computer science bachelor of science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Science. The electrical and computer engineering bachelor of science program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The software engineering BS program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Software Engineering. The mental health counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) (1001 North Fairfax Street, Suite 510, Alexandria, VA 22314; https://www.cacrep.org). The program was most recently reaccredited in July of 2015.  The next CACREP reaccreditation will occur in 2024-25.

The Music Department is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) (11250 Roger Bacon Drive, Suite 21, Reston, VA 20190-5248, 703.437.0700; https://nasm.arts-accredit.org/). The Music Department’s accreditation was most recently reaffirmed in 2012.  The next NASM comprehensive review will occur in 2022-23.

The Theatre Department is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) (11250 Roger Bacon Drive, Suite 21, Reston, VA 20190-5248, 703.437.0700; https://nast.arts-accredit.org/). The Theatre Department’s accreditation was most recently reaffirmed in 2011.  The next NAST comprehensive review will occur in 2022-23.

Health Services is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) (5250 Old Orchard Road, Suite 200, Skokie, IL 60077, 847.853.6060; https://www.aaahc.org). The Mary Walker Center’s most recent three-year accreditation was reaffirmed in September 2021.  The next review will be in September 2024.

The Counseling Services Center is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS, 101 S. Whiting Street, Suite 211, Alexandria, VA 22304, 703.823.9840; https://iacsinc.org/). Accreditation was reaffirmed in February 2022. The next re-evaluation site visit will occur in 2027-28.
