President Stanley to host student and faculty drop-ins today

President Deborah F. Stanley will host the semester's last installments today (Dec. 6) for her regular informal drop-ins -- with one session for students, another for faculty members.

Drop-in meetings with students will take place today from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court. All students are encouraged to drop in, say hello to President Stanley, ask a question or discuss a topic important to them.

National Day of Mourning to honor President George H.W. Bush; USPS will suspend deliveries

The country will observe a National Day of Mourning today, honoring the 41st president George H.W. Bush, who died this past Friday, Nov. 30.

Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honor his vast contributions to our country during his lifetime, and consistent with the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Save the date for Quest 2019 -- Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

This is a friendly reminder to mark your calendars for Quest 2019 and make plans to join us next semester for an all-day campus-wide celebration of scholarly and creative pursuits of students, faculty and staff. And don't forget about the Quest kick-off event at our Syracuse campus the evening before, April 2, 2019 at 5 p.m.

On behalf of the committee, we look forward to working with everyone across campus on this exciting event.

Final Title IX events of semester set today, tomorrow

The college's Title IX office and related It's On Oz campaign will have its last sessions of the semester today and tomorrow. 

A Title IX training will take place at 1 p.m. today (Dec. 4) in 201 Marano Campus Center. Students and employees are encouraged to attend these information sessions to learn more about policies, reporting and response procedures as well as ways to get involved in prevention of sexual and interpersonal violence.

'Professors, Poems and Prose' to feature faculty, staff readings

"Professors, Poems and Prose" is a creative reading at 6 p.m. this evening in the Sheldon Hall historic classroom (Room 222) featuring faculty and staff from across disciplines at SUNY Oswego.

The campus community is invited to hear what their teachers and colleagues are writing. Refreshments will be provided.

Test of emergency communication system set for Thursday, Nov. 29

SUNY Oswego will conduct a simultaneous test of the college's emergency communication systems on Thursday, November 29.

At approximately 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, the college will send messages via NY-Alert, the college website, campus phones including classroom and conference phones, teaching station computers, emergency broadcast system outdoor speakers, and digital signage. The test will not involve radio, television and other mass media, as a real emergency likely would.

Oswego County Children’s Fund seeking student, employee volunteers

The Oswego County Children's Fund, Inc. is looking for volunteers to help with their annual holiday toy giveaway. This year’s giveaway will be held on Sunday, Dec. 16 in SUNY Oswego’s Swetman gymnasium. The event begins at 8 a.m., and will run until all attendees have been served.

The Children’s Fund will begin sorting toys on Monday evening, Dec. 10 from 5 to 9 p.m., and will continue sorting and setting up Tuesday through Friday, in anticipation for Sunday’s toy giveaway. SUNY Oswego employees interested in volunteering may do so on their own time.
