Oct. 20 event welcomes visitors to plant museum and greenhouse

Two of SUNY Oswego’s plant-focused facilities will open their doors to visitors during a joint Fall Open House on Friday, Oct 20, 2023, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Van driver training sessions scheduled

October 4, 2023

SUNY Oswego policy requires that in order to operate the college-owned 12-passenger vans, students must be 18 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and complete a driver training session. This includes students who are responsible for transporting persons in the vans for departmental purposes such as academic field trips, residence life and housing programs, athletic contests and community service.

It is recommended, but not required, that faculty and staff complete the driver training prior to operating a 12-passenger van.

Call for Nominations: SUNY Awards and Promotions Selection Committee

The process by which SUNY Oswego recommends nominees for SUNY Awards and the promotion to Distinguished Professorships involves the actions of a selection committee.

The selection committee is responsible for soliciting campus nominations, reviewing nomination files, evaluating all nominees and ranking nominations as a recommendation for action by the President.

If elected, Faculty Assembly policy calls for the members of the committee to consider nominations for the following categories:

Off-campus access to some CTS services unavailable Wednesday due to server upgrade

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will perform an upgrade to the VPN (virtual private network) service. During this time, some technology services will be unavailable for employees and student employees.

Call for nominations: SUNY Chancellor's Awards and Distinguished Faculty ranks

Each year the State University of New York recognizes outstanding faculty service, teaching, librarianship, scholarship and creative activity through the conferral of Chancellor's Awards for Excellence and the promotions to the Distinguished Faculty ranks.

SUNY Oswego is authorized to submit up to four nominations for each of the following Chancellor's Awards:

1861 Giving Challenge presents opportunity to unlock $60K

The 1861 Giving Challenge started at 8 a.m. today -- on university founder Edward Austin Sheldon's 200th birthday. Dr. Tom Mahl ’80 is challenging the entire Oswego community to help students by making a gift to The Fund for Oswego. If 861 people make a gift in 1,861 minutes, he will give the university $60,000!

Given this challenge, making a gift today would go even further. You can make your gift online, by calling the University Advancement Office at 315-312-3003 or dropping your gift off at 215 Sheldon Hall.
