Faculty-student challenge grants awarded for dozen projects

The Spring 2023 round of the Faculty-Student Challenge Grant applications funded 12 proposals for a total of more than $52,000 awarded among them.

These proposals that were recommended for funding by members of the Scholarly and Creative Activity Committee and ultimately approved for funding by Provost Scott Furlong.

SEFA campaign supporting Yards for Yeardley, local families

The university's State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) program is supporting SUNY Oswego's annual Yards for Yeardley event, the local Services to Aid Families (SAF) and It’s On Oz via a collection effort and online donations

Yards for Yeardley is an annual event on campus to prevent dating and domestic violence while honoring its victims, and the SEFA committee wanted to find ways to provide additional support.

May 10 event to showcase opportunities with local non-profits, community organizations

The SUNY Oswego Office of Business and Community Relations (OBCR) and its Leadership Oswego County (LOC) program will host its second annual Nonprofit Boards and Community Activism Fair from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, at the Roy C. McCrobie Building, 41 Lake St. in Oswego.

ASAP session to highlight Career Services and EXCEL

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP), designed to help adult learners connect with SUNY Oswego and other students, will present on the university's Career Services ad EXCEL (Experiential Courses & Engaged Learning) offices in a virtual presentation at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.

Brightspace Email and Discussion updates

This morning (April 10), SUNY Online will make changes to the Brightspace environment. These changes were discussed and approved by the SUNY Campus Implementation Planning Work Group, which is made up of over 100 members of SUNY from across a wide variety of campuses.

“Save as Draft” enabled for Discussions

If you currently use Brightspace Discussions, the “save as draft” setting will be enabled. This will help both faculty and student users save a draft when typing a discussion response in a textbox, so they do not lose work.

Del Sarte Dance Club to host semester recital this week

The Del Sarte Dance Club will host its spring recital -- a free, non-ticketed event -- at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 14, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 15.

Themed "Feathers, Flappers and Fringe," the recital will take place at CMC Dance Company, 6092 Route 31 in
Cicero. The club is open to all majors with all levels of dance experience.

Online Graduate Research Conference slated April 11

The online SUNY Graduate Research Conference, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, will feature excellent research spanning SUNY campuses.

The free event via the University at Albany is co-organized by the University Faculty Senate Graduate and Research Committee and the Center for Professional Development to the showcase graduate student research across the system.

In addition to 50+ student posters, the event will feature two panels -- one on Gender Violence, and the other one on Artificial Intelligence for Good.

'Romeo and Juliet' to open April 19 in 'quick, action-packed' production
