Retirement reception announced for UP Chief Kevin Velzy

The campus is invited to celebrate the career and retirement of University Police Chief Kevin Velzy during a reception on Friday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. in 114 Marano Campus Center.
 
Chief Velzy began his career as a university police patrol officer in 1989 and later served as a lieutenant, administrative lieutenant and assistant chief before assuming the role of chief in 2020.

Brightspace transition update

The Digital Learning Environment (DLE) transition team congratulates all the faculty and students who have made the transition from Blackboard to Brightspace. Approximately 1,200 course sections are currently active in Brightspace, which is a testament to faculty who have learned and continue to learn Brightspace, migrated and prepared their fall classes in it and to students who are learning it.

Triandiflou Institute to host open house on Sept. 7

The James A. Triandiflou Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice will host an open house from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, in their offices on the second floor of Penfield Library.

The entire campus community is invited to enjoy prizes, snacks, beverages and good vibes.

Oswego history faculty members participate in seminar examining SUNY curriculum

While historians spend much of their time teaching in the classroom, researching in archives and writing, SUNY Oswego history faculty members Gwen Kay and Bill Murphy recently joined 14 other SUNY scholars in the Adirondacks as part of a federally funded effort to reimagine the U.S. history curriculum at Oswego and across the SUNY system.

Discover Wellness employee opportunity returns

"Discover Wellness: Find A Healthier You" will once again offer its weekly, virtual, seven-week program this fall.

The program will begin on Sept. 19, 2022, and is free to all SUNY Oswego employees. This program focuses on stress reduction, healthy eating, increasing physical activity,and improving overall quality of sleep.

Participants will receive free weekly wellness reinforcements and wellness coaching that will assist them in making a behavior change that will aid in increasing their overall quality of life.
