University Police to host Sept. 25 check in support of Car Seat Saturday

SUNY Oswego’s University Police will host a community car seat check from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 25, which is considered Car Seat Saturday and wraps up the nationwide effort of Car Seat Week to encourage proper use of car seats for children.

Hosted in conjunction with the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board, the free car seat checks will take place in Lot 7 near Romney Field House just off of Route 104. Officers from other local agencies will be on hand with University Police to support the effort.  

Van driver training sessions offered

SUNY Oswego policy requires that in order to operate the college-owned 12-passenger vans, students must be 18 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, and complete a driver training session. This includes students who are responsible for transporting persons in the vans for departmental purposes such as academic field trips, residence life and housing programs, athletic contests, and community service.

It is recommended, but not required, that faculty and staff complete the driver training prior to operating a 12-passenger van.

Google Backup and Sync migration to Drive for Desktop to be complete by Oct. 1

SUNY Oswego has been using Backup and Sync as the official means of backing up data on computers since 2018. Some members of the campus may have also used the alternative Drive File Stream application on their own to backup data. Google recently announced it will be combining the Backup and Sync and Drive File Stream tools and features to create one new application called Drive for Desktop.

Relax, Refuel, Return to Nature slated today at Rice Creek

Rice Creek Field Station, Campus Recreation, and the Counseling Services Center team up to offer students a day of recreation and relaxation in nature at the event Relax, Refuel, Return to Nature at Rice Creek. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept, 16), a day of no classes due to Yom Kippur.

Whether you prefer sitting in a hammock, going for a paddle, playing lawn games or going for a walk in the forest, there is something for everyone! The lineup of scheduled and drop-in activities includes:

Constitution Day activities to feature voting milestone

September 10, 2021

This year's Constitution Day activities on campus on Friday, Sept. 17, include a celebration of the United States Constitution and the 50th anniversary of the 26th Amendment, which gave 18-year-olds the right to vote.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., tables outside of Penfield Library will have free pocket Constitutions, voter registration information, games and prizes.

Attendees can test theirr knowledge of Constititional Amendments and learn about the "old enough to fight, old enough to vote" movement.

Management Confidential employees required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

In a continued effort to protect all members of the SUNY Oswego campus community, President Deborah F. Stanley is requiring that all Management Confidential (M-C) employees at SUNY Oswego complete a full COVID-19 vaccine series by October 12, 2021.
