Artist-in-Residence's poetry workshop to ask: 'What's in a name?'

In a free Oct. 24 poetry workshop and exploration, ARTSwego Artist-in-Residence Albert Abonado will partner with the university's Triandiflou Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice to discuss the profound histories of names and how they can define experiences.

SUNY Oswego Syracuse Campus network maintenance scheduled Oct. 19

On Saturday, Oct. 19, from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m., a third-party provider will perform network maintenance affecting the SUNY Oswego Syracuse Campus.

Network connections on and off-campus will be unavailable for everyone at the Syracuse Campus. Services affected by this include, but are not limited to:

1861 Giving Challenge successful in raising funds to support students

Organizers are thrilled to announce that the 1861 Giving Challenge exceeded all expectations. Thanks to the incredible support from the Laker community, the effort surpassed our goal of 861 donors, raising over $146,300 from 889 donors. This achievement unlocked a generous $70,000 challenge gift from Dr. Paul Vianco '80.

In total, the program raised more than $216,000 to support SUNY Oswego students. Organizers thank everyone who contributed to making this event a resounding success.

Water line break leads to water advisory

UPDATE: We are awaiting results of water testing and expect to have word about the status of the water in the buildings noted. When we have those results, we will send a message to the campus community.

Due to a water main break in West campus, we have been advised that there is a chance that the water in affected buildings could become contaminated during reconnection.

Creative writing major to interview faculty 'Off the Books' author at Syracuse event

Creative writing major Isaiah Bedoar will take on a new challenge this Friday, Oct. 4, engaging with author and SUNY Oswego professor Soma Mei Sheng Frazier in a public conversation about "Off the Books," Frazier’s debut novel, at 7 p.m. in Liverpool's Golden Bee Bookshop.
