Memorial services for Brian Hough, SUNY Oswego assistant professor in the department of atmospheric and geological sciences, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia, New York 13118. Read full obituary. Professor Hough lost his life in a tragic accident last weekend.

Writing Fellows Workshop Series for faculty begins today

The Writing Fellows Workshop Series begins today, providing the first of four sessions supporting faculty who use writing in the courses they teach -- with a goal of building the wider culture of writing on campus.

The college's Office of Communications and Marketing recently completed a reorganization of its key function areas, aimed at expanding beyond a traditional public affairs model, and moving towards an integrated marketing, modernized communications approach. Over the past year, the office has purposely acted on a vision to create a culture of centralized service by formalizing four core function areas that include Digital Services, Marketing, News/Media and Publications.

CTS promotes National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Campus Technology Services aims to amplify the importance of security online in all students' and employees' educational, professional and personal lives during October -- National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

There are, for example, everyday things that could make our online data more secure, according to CTS and NCSAM organizers: Put a passcode on your mobile phone in case it gets stolen or lost, remove sticky notes that have written passwords, and lock your computer screen when you leave the office or residence, among other steps.
