ORI author exploring immigrant children's stories to speak Sept. 27

The annual Oswego Reading Initiative will welcome award-winning novelist and essayist Valeria Luiselli to SUNY Oswego on Thursday, Sept. 27, to discuss her 2017 extended essay "Tell Me How It Ends," an exploration of the journey of undocumented Central American children as they are vetted through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Sept. 23 concert marks bassist's return to Oswego Jazz Project

The Oswego Jazz Project, a combo of four professional musicians on SUNY Oswego's music faculty, will mark the return of accomplished bassist Danny Ziemann in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

Salad Bowl luncheon menu: healthy lunch, conversation

EAP will sponsor this semester's first Healthy Salad Bowl Luncheon for faculty and staff at noon on Thursday, Sept. 20, in 114 Marano Campus Center. The event's goal is to gather employees for a healthy lunch and great conversation. 

The event is free to all who bring one salad topping. EAP -- the college's Employee Assistance Program -- will provide lettuce, bowls, salad dressings, utensils and napkins.

Sept. 17 Constitution Day party scheduled

Community Services and Vote Oswego will host a Happy Birthday Constitution Day party from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in Marano Campus Center food court, to honor the signing of the Constitution of the United States by delegates on this day in 1787. 

All are invited to participate in games, play for prizes, take photo booth pictures, eat pizza and birthday cake, and learn about the U.S. Constitution along the way. 

Lunchtime Christian Meditation is open to all students, faculty and staff

Held later today  from noon to 1 p.m. in the Newman Center, and every Wednesday throughout the fall semester, Lunchtime Christian Meditation in the Catholic, Eucharistic tradition is open to all students, faculty and staff.

Lunchtime Christian Meditation is sponsored by The Newman Center, Dr. John F. Lalande, and a number of SUNY Oswego faculty, staff and students.

President Stanley will host her first drop-in with faculty this Wednesday, September 12, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in the Chu Atrium, located in the Marano Campus Center. 

President Stanley hosts drop-in hours for SUNY Oswego faculty periodically throughout the acedemic year. Members of the faculty are invited to stop by and meet with her during this upcoming faculty drop-in.

Remembering the 17-year anniversary of Sept. 11

STARTALK seeks reservations for Sept. 15 festival

Organizers of the STARTALK Mid-Autumn Festival, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in 242 Marano Campus Center, seek RSVPs for the Chinese cultural celebration.

Participants can learn more about Chinese culture, try seasonal foods and fruits, and play with the Chinese yoyo and Jian zi at the free program. RSVPs are requested to startalkcny@gmail.com by Sept. 14.
