Dec. 1 event to celebrate life, work, legacy of Dr. Alfred Frederick

Second SUNY Oswego Instructor Bootcamp cohort to begin Dec. 5, 2023

SUNY Oswego’s second Instructor Bootcamp cohort will begin on Dec. 5 with a kick-off ceremony at SUNY Oswego’s Syracuse Campus followed by participants completing 40 hours of synchronous online instruction two evenings per week taught by SUNY Oswego School of Education faculty members.

'I Just Wanna Talk' spoken-word poetry reading happening Nov. 30

First-year students from the CRW 198 "The Spoken Word" class will present a spoken-word poetry reading at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30,  in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).

At the event, titled "I Just Wanna Talk," students will perform their original spoken word poems as part of this First-Year Signature Course.

Letters from Home: Season's Greeting edition today and tomorrow

Letters from Home is back for the holidays, as on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 29 and 30, Student Orientation and Family Engagement will table in the Marano Campus Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This event allows Lakers to fill out a postcard of their choosing to their supporters back home ("supporters" can be any caring individual in their life -- meaning friends, family and more). To show any supporters some extra love, Lakers can add a Polaroid taken by staff to their envelope to send out.

SUNY Oswego to host Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair on Dec. 9

Dozens of local creators will show off creative gift ideas during the SUNY Oswego Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair, running 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.

A variety of vendors will fill Marano Campus Center’s Swetman Gym with offerings that feature many handmade and homemade items from around Central New York.

Each participating vendor donates an item toward door-prize drawings happening every half hour; no purchase is needed to enter, but one must be present to win.

Holiday Skate with the Lakers fundraiser set for Dec. 10

The popular family-friendly event and fundraiser Holiday Skate With the Lakers will return from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Center in Marano Campus Center. All proceeds will support the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

36th annual campus Toy Drive to make spirits bright for local children

SUNY Oswego's 36th annual Toy Drive is underway, with information, boxes and contacts in buildings across campus through Dec. 14 to help make spirits bright for local children in need.

The SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) planning committee coordinates this annual drive.

Van driver trainings scheduled for December

SUNY Oswego will host two opportunities for van driver training on successive Saturdays -- 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 2 and 9. 

University policy requires that in order to operate the college-owned 12-passenger vans, students must be 18 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and complete at least one driver training session.

SUNY Oswego joins annual shoe drive supporting local communities

November 21, 2023

SUNY Oswego has joined an annual local effort, titled “Tithe My Shoes,” to collect new or gently used shoes and boots for the Rescue Mission with an emphasis on children’s shoes.

SUNY Oswego President Peter O. Nwosu, Ph.D., is proud to participate in the collection effort this year. In his office are a pair of shoes he wore when he first came to America as an immigrant student, and he speaks of them often.
