Employee Retirement System (ERS) will mail out member 2021 statements (through March 31, 2021) by the end of June. You can also review your statement online through Retirement Online where you can opt to have your statement emailed to you instead of receiving it through the US Postal Service.  Below are instructions on retirement online and how to change your preferences. 

As announced on April 12, 2021 by President Stanley, SUNY Oswego will return to fully in-person operations in Fall 2021. In follow up to that message, I am sharing important information with employees presently working remotely regarding the transition back to in-person operations. As New York State slowly rolls back COVID-19 restrictions, SUNY Oswego is preparing to fully reopen and plans to welcome employees back to campus on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Juneteenth 2021 Holiday

We have been advised by the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations that another day will not be designated as an observed holiday by State employees in lieu of June 19, 2021.

Full-time employees who are entitled to observe holidays, and are not scheduled to work on Saturday, June 19, will be credited with holiday compensatory time after June 19, 2021. 

Employees who are regularly scheduled to work on Saturday will observe Saturday, June 19 as a holiday unless required to work. Any employee required to work on Saturday, June 19, 2021, will receive either paid holiday pay or granted holiday compensatory time off (holiday leave), as appropriate.

Summer hours for office employees will begin effective Monday, May 17, 2021. Hours will be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with a one-half hour lunch break.​ ​Summer hours will remain in effect through Friday, August 13, 2021. Regular office hours will resume as of Monday, August 16, 2021.

It is always a good idea to periodically review the beneficiaries for your retirement system and make necessary updates, especially if you have had any recent changes in your life. The Office of Human Resources does not have access to view or change your beneficiaries, so you will need to do that on your own.  Choosing a beneficiary for your retirement system is very important. Human Resources would like to announce the annual rollout of mandatory online training courses through the Thomson Reuters Compliance Learning Program. These include: Preventing Workplace Violence, Domestic Violence Prevention in the Workplace, Child Sexual Abuse Reporting, Preventing Discrimination and Harassment, Right to Know, and Information Security Awareness.

In the next few days, you should receive a training assignment email from the Human Resources Office providing online access to these training courses. You will have 30 days to complete the six courses. Once you have completed the courses, Human Resources will automatically receive confirmation and no further action is required by you.

The Statewide Telecommuting Pilot Program that has been in place since March 2020 for state employees has been further extended through July 2, 2021 for CSEA, UUP and PEF-represented employees, as well as management/confidential employees.

SUNY Oswego will continue to utilize the use of the telecommuting policy through July 2 in an effort to limit the spread of the virus. All telecommuting arrangements should continue to be coordinated between the employee and their supervisor. If you already have an approved telecommuting agreement, you do not need to take any further action. However, if you do not have an approved telecommuting agreement, please complete a Telecommuting Application.

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce a newly developed SUNY Oswego Phased Retirement Program. We know that planning for retirement is a highly individualized process and there are many factors to consider. This spring, those planning for retirement have another option. Thoughtfully designed to allow an employee to gradually transition into retirement by working less than full-time, it is our hope that this program will support you with your retirement planning efforts as you plan for your future. If you are considering retirement, you may find this program a valuable resource.

We are pleased to inform you that the annual vacation accrual cap for CSEA employees has been extended. Normally, any vacation accruals in excess of 40 days at the close of business on March 31st are forfeited to bring vacation leave credits down to 40 days on April 1st. However, unused annual leave can now be carried over for an additional period through December 31, 2021.

These changes will automatically be reflected in the SUNY Time and Attendance system.  No action on your part is necessary.
