As you may know, SUNY and PBA have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) requiring mandatory COVID-19 testing of PBA employees. As a result, effective immediately, all PBA employees who are required to report to campus in person for some or all of their work obligations are required to get tested for COVID-19.
Each year, the SUNY Oswego community gathers to honor employees represented by CSEA, PBA, NYSCOPBA and PEF who have dedicated several years of service to SUNY Oswego. This event gives our community a chance to say thank you and to celebrate this milestone with the honorees. This year the 31st Classified Employee Recognition in-person luncheon did not take place. We take this opportunity to thank all our honorees who have dedicated many years of service, from 10 years to even our 50-year honoree. No doubt, a grand milestone. Please see the attached list of our Honorees for 2020.
The Statewide Telecommuting Pilot Program that has been in place since March 2020 for state employees has been further extended for CSEA, UUP and PEF-represented employees as well as management/confidential employees through January 1, 2021. SUNY Oswego will continue to encourage the use of the telecommuting policy through January 1 in an effort to limit the spread of the virus. All telecommuting arrangements should continue to be coordinated between the employee and their supervisor. If you already have an approved telecommuting agreement, you do not need to take any further action.

This message is in response to questions and concerns about the Federal Payroll Tax Holiday. At this time, SUNY Oswego has received no information from the Office of State Comptroller (OSC) regarding the payroll tax holiday put into effect this month by Executive Order of the federal government. The Executive Order provides for Social Security tax normally withheld from payroll to be deferred through the end of 2020 and repaid in 2021. However, SUNY Oswego cannot implement the deferral of such tax without further direction from OSC and SUNY. We will keep employees apprised of any updates on this issue as more information becomes available.
