Due to budget restrictions and limitations, undergraduate student hiring is only allowed on a critical basis and requires the respective Vice President approval. The information outlined here does not provide permission to hire, but rather contains information about the new electronic process for submitting approved undergraduate student appointment forms.

As part of our commitment to reduce paper usage and simplify the Student Assistant hiring process, we are pleased to announce a new electronic student appointment form. In addition to the electronic student appointment form, the new employment actions justification form is required to be submitted for approval before the student appointment form can be submitted. This ensures compliance with SUNY and State guidance.

To better serve our employees, Human Resources has a dedicated email address - eehealthscreen@oswego.edu  which can be used to submit any questions or correspondence you may have about the Employee Daily Health Screening. Please be reminded, all employees (SUNY Oswego and Syracuse campus) must complete the Employee Daily Health Screening form each day that the employee is physically present and working on campus.  Employees and supervisors who receive follow up emails from eehealthscreen@oswego.edu are asked to respond promptly to all requests for further information.

SUNY Oswego's Office of Human Resources is announcing today the launch of the “New York State COVID-19 Response: Return to Work” training video. All employees are required to complete this 12-minute training video.

In the next few days, you should receive a training assignment email from Thomson Reuters Compliance Learning on behalf of the Human Resources Office providing online access to this training course. Once you have completed the training, Human Resources will automatically receive confirmation and no further action is required by you.

As we prepare to head into the new academic year, the College will begin to phase in additional employees to work on campus. Please remember that your supervisor and/or department head will be communicating with you when/how you will return to campus.

After carefully reviewing New York State rules and CDC recommendations we have developed guidelines to keep our employees safe as we expand on-campus staffing. The SUNY Oswego Workplace Entry Guidelines outline the responsibilities we all have to help ensure one another’s safety. We ask that you read it thoroughly.

In an effort to assist you and areas under your supervision, Human Resources has developed a COVID-19 Department Return to Campus Plan to help serve as a guide as you plan for staffing needs in your area as we prepare for students to return to campus.

In order to bring employees back safely, units should develop and submit return-to-work plans that follow a set of best-practice health guidelines. Please also discuss your plans with employees in your areas so they are aware.

Per Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order, all travelers entering New York from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents, or higher than a 10% test positivity rate, over a seven-day rolling average, will be required to quarantine for a period of 14 days consistent with Department of Health regulations for quarantine. All international travelers arriving into the US must also quarantine at home for 14 days after their arrival. Please follow this link for the COVID-19 travel advisory.

The Statewide Telecommuting Pilot Program that has been in place since March 2020 for state employees has been further extended for CSEA, UUP and PEF-represented employees as well as management/confidential employees through the close of business on October 2, 2020.

Program Description:  The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) helps New York State employees and their family members cope with personal problems which negatively affect their lives and which might intrude upon their jobs.  Emotional stress, family disintegration, financial and legal difficulties, alcoholism, drug abuse and marital disruption impair not only an employee’s personal life, but workplace productivity.  EAP was formed with the knowledge that such problems can be addressed and treated with appropriate help.  It is voluntary, confidential, informational, and referral service.  The coordinator position is voluntary and unpaid.
