The federal government has announced that May 11, 2023 will be the last day of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency period, therefore related health insurance benefits will be subject to your usual plan coverage. This means that effective May 12, 2023, special cost share waivers such as no-cost over-the-counter (OTC) tests put in place during the emergency period will end. However, COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters will continue to be covered in full with no out-of-pocket cost if a network pharmacy or provider is used.

Are you planning to travel this summer, or will your child be starting college in another state next fall? Remember to pack a copy of the 2023 On the Road with the Empire Plan booklet. This publication includes contact and claims information for Empire Plan programs and administrators that you may find helpful while you are traveling or when your dependents are away from home. Click on the link above to access it online or contact the HR Office for a copy. 

Summer hours for office employees will begin effective Monday, May 15, 2023. Hours will be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with a one half-hour lunch break. Summer hours will remain in effect through Friday, August 18, 2023. Regular office hours will resume as of Monday, August 21, 2023. The Office of Human Resources would like to remind all New York State employees who contributed to a "Flex Spending Account" (FSA) in 2022, that the plan year ends on December 31, but you still have 90 days from this date to send in documentation of qualifying expenses you incurred during the plan year. So, you have until March 31, 2023 to submit claims for services rendered from January 1 through December 31 of the preceding year.

Note: You can only be reimbursed for expenses that are incurred and paid for during your period of coverage in calendar year 2022.

This is a reminder that ERS will be distributing during the months of May & June the MAS which contains valuable information that can help members understand their retirement benefits and plan for the future. 

ERS will be mailing your MAS directly to your home address. Statements are provided directly to a member's home address, so it is important that ERS have the member's current contact information on file. 

ERS members may Sign in to your Retirement Online account to view your mailing address and email address, and update if needed.
